Tell us about your career and how it all started?
I’ve been an “artivist” it feels like all my life. My parents were activists and my dad was heavy in the arts as well. At the age of 7 I danced in front of a crowd of 1500 people and then started marching against the KKK and handing out leaflets at 8. So the seed of activism and art was planted early. I’ve traveled the country with the Children’s Aid Society Chorus, Off-Broadway Theatre with the Castillo Theatre in New York, and even was a radio personality in Norfolk Virginia. Writing is also in my blood, and poetry started the journey that eventually matured into screenwriting. I recently joined the WGA. I am elated to be in 3 unions! SAG-AFTRA, ACTOR’s EQUITY and the Writer’s Guild of America.

What would be your advice for women who are building careers in your industry?
Remember it starts with you! Your attitude, how you treat others and how you serve others goes a long way to a lasting career. By being of service to someone who does what you want to do and does it well will be the greatest classroom you could ever have. The most important thing about being a builder, is believing that you are capable of the ARK! ;)
